NDIS Minidriver- No Workgroup
GHammer 16.05.2007 05:29 I installed KAV (not KIS) here and have only a wired LAN.
My workgroup became unavailable.
If I tried to browse the workgroup I get a 'No permissions' error from XP.
I disabled the NDIS minidriver and all is well.
This is a Broadcom gigabit integrated NIC using the latest driver from the Broadcom site, 10.24d. XP is fully patched as of 16 May
Using only the Windows firewall. dbrisendine 16.05.2007 06:51 I have exactly the same problem. Using the same hardware and drivers on a Dell D810 laptop. Thought I was the only one. Hope this is resolved soon; v103 seemed to run much better than the others in some respects.
Sjoeii 16.05.2007 06:59 Have you tried disabling the proactive defense? dbrisendine 16.05.2007 07:17 QUOTE(Sjoeii @ 15.05.2007 23:59)Have you tried disabling the proactive defense?

Yes and no change; had to uninstall to get network working. No combination of AH, PDM, etc. on / off seems to make a difference. Seems the NDIS driver interferres with Intel PRO/wireless program and this shuts down ALL network actions (sometimes, but not always, even LOCALHOST functions not working properly). Sorry to break in but this is a serious problem on notebooks as usally all hardware networks go through one controller. When NDIS driver is acting up, there is not even any information in the Connection Status tab; completely blank. Not even installed, I do a custom install and unselect that and web.
I also use the network scan settings to scan only POP and SMTP ports. I uncheck, then delete the others. GHammer 16.05.2007 07:40 Are there others who have a workgroup or domain?
Are they usable?
Suggestions mean more when I see "It works for me if I do this". Lucian Bara 16.05.2007 12:55 hello
those this still occur with the latest build? GHammer 16.05.2007 16:49 QUOTE(lucianbara @ 16.05.2007 17:55)hello

Well, this morning it was the latest build...
I am giving .111 a pass as I saw another report the same problem with the NDIS driver. dbrisendine 16.05.2007 17:07 Installed 111 this morning and did not get signed warning and network connections seem to be working. Can anyone confirm the signing of the NDIS driver?
GHammer 16.05.2007 18:46 Given that your problem was corrected, I installed .111 and I have workgroup access.
What is strange is that I do not have the 'Internet Connection' that shows up in Network Properties. That is the UPnP panel.
Not a problem as UPnP does work. Just can't see what has been configured. whatterz 9.12.2007 22:57 I installed KAV 7 and it has litterally killed all my network connections. I managed to manually add my wifi connection details, but I cannot connect to the network or repair the wireless connection. When I do an IPConfig at the command line, not details are shown so I cannot do a /release or /renew. Trying to do anything with the network connections tends to completely lock the process so I have to use task manager to end task.
I am running XP Pro SP2 on a Dell Inpsiron 510m.
Does anyone know how I can fix this as, short of buying a competing product, I am short on ideas! Don Pelotas 10.12.2007 00:04 1. Which build of 7.0?
2. Have you simply tried to uncheck the NDIS filter?
Try to go into the control panel > network connections, then rightclick on local area connection and do this (uncheck Kaspersky NDIS filter):http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?act=A...st&id=31710, reboot. parisd 10.12.2007 09:59 Look at http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?showtopic=42668. It's a discussion about these kind of problems. There is a file for fixing the NDIS filter. It worked for me.
